Kgaswe School is an independent day school for boys and girls from Pre-school to High School. Kgaswe School was founded in 1986 with 5 students in a garage of its only teacher, and headmistress, Mrs. Gill, in the BPC Village in Palapye. The parents were all employees of Botswana Power Corporation who had opened up Morupule Power Station near to the town of Palapye. It served the need of expatriate employees’ children who had no English Medium school to attend. It registered with the Ministry of Education and soon outgrew the garage and moved to its present location adjacent to the Morupule Power Station. The present administration block was all the school initially consisted of. |
 | Né à Paris, Kristo Numpuby est élevé dans la forêt tropicale Camerounaise. Dès l'âge de huit ans, il compose des chansons et s'intéresse aux percussions. Mais c'est sa grand mère qui lui donne une éducation musicale plus large : « Nguéba, ma grand-mère tenait un bar à Eseka. On y écoutait à longueur de journée divers styles de musiques : classique, jazz, rythm'n'blues, James Brown, afro-cubain, rumba zaïroise, high-life, makossa, biguine. Je baignais dans un univers musical kaleidoscopique ». Finalement, à 12 ans, Kristo reçoit une guitare. Désormais il peut interpréter tous les tubes qui passent à la radio. À 18 ans, il forme un trio qui interprète uniquement ses propres compositions ; Kristo chante et joue essentiellement de l'Assiko. Les gens de sa génération ne comprennent pas d'ailleurs pourquoi un gars comme lui qui passe ses vacances à Paris, continue à s'intéresser à la musique du village. |
